Kester Aspden was born in Toronto in 1968 and was raised in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, and York. He holds a PhD in History from Cambridge University and is the author of The Hounding of David Oluwale, a true crime story set in Leeds at the end of the Sixties. Described by Dominic Sandbrook as ‘splendidly dark’, this book won the Crime Writers’ Association Gold Dagger for Non-Fiction and was adapted for the stage, opening at the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
For the last 20 years he has bee fortunate enough to follow his foreign correspondent wife around with her work and they currently living in Rome. His main passions are playing tennis, theatre, watching AS Roma and – stemming from his time in Havana – Cuban music and salsa dancing.
