Erick Taylor Woodby is a writer, editor, and essayist whose work explores culture, identity, history, and the experiences of changemakers around the world. He’s written for Orion Publishing Group and appeared in publications including Queerty’s Native Son, Krull Magazine, and Substack. Woodby has also been quoted in Forbes, where his biweekly podcast, Our Black Gay Diaspora™, was recognized for amplifying Black LGBTQ+ voices and stories. In 2025, he was named to the National Black Justice Collective’s “Cohort of 100 Black LGBTQ+/SGL Emerging Leaders to Watch.”
Woodby’s writing is informed by years of interviewing, researching, and producing long-form conversations as the creator, host, and producer of Our Black Gay Diaspora™. Through more than 135 episodes featuring Black LGBTQIA+ trailblazers from 28 countries and 45 professions, he has developed a thoughtful, curiosity-driven voice that carries into his feature writing, profiles, and essays.
