Claude Boli is a French contemporary world historian, born in Ivory Coast. He has a doctorate in history (De Montfort University, Leicester) and in sociology (Nantes University, France). His research focuses on a range of issues relating to football in Europe and Africa, Sport museums, Black history in Europe. Research professor fellow at the International Center for Sports History and Culture (De Montfort University), member of the Foundation for sports history museum, member of the board of the Association of Sports Writers. He’s the author of a number of books including: Manchester United: L’invention d’un club (La Martinière, postface Eric Cantona, 2004), Football et immigration (Gallimard, 2010); Le sport en France à l’épreuve du racisme (Nouveau Monde, 2015); Mohamed Ali (Gallimard, 2016). Co-realised with Eric Cantona of the acclaimed documentary (Foot et immigration: 100 ans d’histoire commune, 2014).
He’s currently scientific director of the French National Sport Museum, based in Nice.

David Brayley is an author from Swansea, specialising in sport. He was educated at Brynhyfryd & Crwys Primary Schools, Bishopston & Gowerton Comprehensives and the University of Wales in Newport.
His first book, There’s Only Two Tony Cotteys (Gomer Press 2008) written with former Swansea City, Glamorgan and Sussex footballer/cricketer, Tony Cottey, was short listed for the MCC/Cricket Society Cricket Book of the Year. He also ghosted Cottey’s cricket column in the South Wales Evening Post from 2004-2011.
Brayley’s next book was as co-writer of Swansea City and Wales captain, Ashley Williams’s eponymous Premier League Diary (Y Lolfa 2012) which was followed with two official Quiz and Fact Books for Swansea City FC.
His debut children’s novel, Champion of Champions was published by Leeds based Scratching Shed Publishing in October 2017, and is an inspirational cycling-based tale aimed at Middle Grade readers.
In 2020, Brayley co-authored Chasing a Rugby Dream: Kick-Off, the first in a series of MG rugby books, with Wales and British and Irish Lions star, James Hook.
Brayley is a former school Governor who is passionate about promoting Reading for Pleasure for young people and makes countless school visits across Wales and the wider UK. He has spearheaded the Welsh Government’s ‘Make Time to Read Campaign with Ashley Williams in 2013, worked as a consultant for the National Literacy Trust on their ‘Premier League Reading Stars’ programme, and delivered sports literacy projects for Literature Wales in conjunction with Glamorgan CCC. He has also worked closely with Swansea City FC and Ospreys Rugby and their education programmes.
He is married to Debra and has two daughters, Georgia and Olivia.

James Briggs is a writer specialising in music and travel. His debut book following a David Bowie song lyric, ‘From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads’ is due for release in autumn 2025. He’s written for The Guardian, The Irish Times, various travel magazines and has edited and ghostwritten books for adventurers. In his spare time, knees permitting, he plays football and has been trying to surf with low to middling success for 25 years. He also works on a consultancy basis as a pain sponge for his football team, Tottenham Hotspur. Born to Yorkshire parents, but growing up in Somerset, he’s equally comfortable with ‘ey ups’ and ‘wassons,’ improvising in London where he now lives.

Simon Briggs is a journalist and author who writes for The Telegraph, primarily about cricket, football, tennis and golf. A revised edition of his tribute to the seamy side of Ashes cricket, Stiff Upper Lips and Baggy Green Caps: A Sledger’s History of the Ashes was published in June 2013 by Quercus.
